Installation & Updates

Lex is local-first and ships with several hundred MB of runtime data. The reliable install path is a full Git checkout plus the setup script.

Full Git Install

git clone https://github.com/elcafe7/lex.git
cd lex
./setup.sh

Requirements

Python 3.12 or newer. The setup script creates a repo-local virtual environment and installs the lex wrapper into ~/.local/bin.

Stay Up to Date

Update application code from Git, then re-run setup. Refresh runtime data separately when needed.

./setup.sh
lex update

Study Mode

The primary workbench for deep scriptural analysis. Dig into the original source with surgical precision.

  • Text: Full context and verse reading
  • Original Language: Greek and Hebrew source texts
  • Interlinear: Direct word-for-word alignment
  • Transliteration: Phonetic pronunciation guides
  • Definitions: Strong's and STEPBible lexicon integration

Export Engine: Generate professional study packets as PDF or DOCX directly from your terminal session.
